Coagula Curatorial is pleased to be a co-sponsor of the Fall Edition of the 2015 Beverly Hills Art Show, happening this weekend, October 17-18, from 10am-5pm each day.  Located in historic Beverly Gardens Park, the show runs four blocks along Santa Monica Blvd., from Rodeo Drive to Rexford Drive.

Located in Booth #314, Coagula Curatorial presents dramatic works from a trio of figurative artists.  Michael Rubino and Abel Alejandre are endowed with virtuosic hyperrealistic rendering skills.  The focus of their works are social, emotional, or both, so the technical talent is a pleasurable bonus rather than the essence.

Neither artist shies away from depicting current societal conditions, occasionally enhanced through the symbols of Catholic art history or masculinity, and occasionally featuring our country’s most dominant males.

Alex Arizpe is another kind of figurative artist. His figures roil, always suggesting extreme motion, even though the agonized males he depicts are trying to perform the most basic tasks, like taking a shower or a step up a staircase. As a cancer survivor, he has a genius for imparting the struggle to survive in the most basic ways even as a pain-racked body makes it impossible. The compositions and sense of space are impactful, and the use of thick, multicolored ribbons of paint, showing a man nearly unhinged by illness, are shocking.
